Business Specialist, BIPOC Fund

As a Business Specialist at VEC, Chip is primarily responsible for administering and executing the BIPOC Award Grant program for small businesses in the Aurora Metro area. Chip is responsible for application design, initial applicant screening, and a needs and resource assessment of the awardee businesses. He has a BA in Biology from Swarthmore College and a Master’s in Public Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Most of Chip’s career has been spent in sales, marketing, inventory management, and marketing research with such companies as Berlex Laboratories, GlaxoSmithKline, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Allergan Inc., and Z-5 inventory. As Director of the NAACP Economic Development Center, he is responsible for building relationships with other organizations and developing programs to advance the economic issues challenging businesses in the Aurora Metropolitan area. He was also a Lieutenant Commander in the US Naval Reserve attached to Fleet Hospital serving as director of operations and training. Chip was an affiliate faculty member in marketing at Metropolitan State University of Denver. He serves on the Holmes-Omega Scholarship Foundation Board, Cherry Creek School District Excellence and Equity Steering Committee, a proud member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. He enjoys golf and cycling and has a keen interest in Negro League Baseball, the Tuskegee Airmen, and Pittsburgh Steeler football.
